About Me

I’m Ali.  In 2016, I graduated from Bates College with a degree in Environmental Studies and no idea what to do next (heard this story before?).  After returning home and a few months of uncertainty and nervousness, I decided to take the leap and move to Asia!  Since studying abroad in Australia, I had dreamt of living abroad again and this was my opportunity.

And on January 26th 2017, I was on a plane to Yangon, Myanmar to teach English.  After working in Myanmar, I moved to Hanoi, Vietnam to continue teaching English and to live in another new country.  I had only planned on staying in Asia for 4 months, but 4 months turned into 10 months filled with endless adventures, new countries, and wonderful people.

This experience ignited my passion for travel and opened my eyes to this part of the world.  For my most recent adventure, I am doing a work exchange program in Bocas del Toro, Panama while I search for where I can go next.  Come with me as I get out there and see the world!

Things I like: warm weather, dancing, traveling (shocker), music festivals, cats and dogs (in no particular order), ceramics, eating stuff, skiing, cooking competition shows, succulents.

Things I don’t like: kale.
